Fakery by USA government - Forgeries and Fraud
In damning transcript, ex-CIA official says Cheney likely ordered letter linking Hussein to 9/11 attacks

A forged letter linking Saddam Hussein to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks was ordered on White House stationery and probably came from the office of Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a new transcript of a conversation with the Central Intelligence Agency's former Deputy Chief of Clandestine Operations Robert Richer.
The transcript was posted Friday by author Ron Suskind of an interview conducted in June. It comes on the heels of denials by both the White House and Richer of a claim Suskind made in his new book, The Way of The World. The book was leaked to Politico's Mike Allen on Monday, and released Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the White House released a statement on Richer's behalf. In it, Richer declared, "I never received direction from George Tenet or anyone else in my chain of command to fabricate a document ... as outlined in Mr. Suskind's book."
The denial, however, directly contradicts Richer's own remarks in the transcript.
"Now this is from the Vice President's Office is how you remembered it--not from the president?" Suskind asked.
"No, no, no," Richer replied, according to the transcript. "What I remember is George [Tenet] saying, 'we got this from'--basically, from what George said was 'downtown.'"
"Which is the White House?" Suskind asked.
"Yes," Richer said. "But he did not--in my memory--never said president, vice president, or NSC. Okay? But now--he may have hinted--just by the way he said it, it would have--cause almost all that stuff came from one place only: Scooter Libby and the shop around the vice president."
"But he didn't say that specifically," Richer added. "I would naturally--I would probably stand on my, basically, my reputation and say it came from the vice president."
"But there wasn't anything in the writing that you remember saying the vice president," Suskind continued.
"Nope," Richer said.
"It just had the White House stationery."
"Exactly right."
Later, Richer added, "You know, if you've ever seen the vice president's stationery, it's on the White House letterhead. It may have said OVP (Office of the Vice President). I don't remember that, so I don't want to mislead you."
Suskind says decision to post transcript unusual
Suskind posted the transcript at his blog, saying, "This posting is contrary to my practice across 25 years as a journalist. But the issues, in this matter, are simply too important to stand as discredited in any way." It was first picked up by ThinkProgress and Congressional Quarterly's Jeff Stein.
Suskind's new book asserts that senior Bush officials ordered the CIA to forge a document "proving" that Saddam Hussein had been trying to manufacture nuclear weapons and was collaborating with al Qaeda. The alleged result was a faked memorandum from then chief of Saddam's intelligence service Tahir Jalil Habbush dated July 1, 2001, and written to Hussein.
The bogus memo claimed that 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta had received training in Baghdad but also discussed the arrival of a "shipment" from Niger, which the Administration claimed had supplied Iraq with yellowcake uranium -- based on yet another forged document whose source remains uncertain.
The memo subsequently was treated as fact by the British Sunday Telegraph, and cited by William Safire in his New York Times column, providing fodder for Bush's efforts to take the US to war.
The Sunday Telegraph cited the main source for its story on Iraq's 9/11 involvement as Ayad Allawi, a former Baathist who rebelled against Saddam and was appointed a government position after the US occupation.
Nothing in the story explains how an Iraqi politician was privy to the fake memo, but the New York Times column alluded to Allawi and described him as "an Iraqi leader long considered reliable by intelligence agencies."
"To characterize it right," Richer also declares in the transcript, "I would say, right: it came to us, George had a raised eyebrow, and basically we passed it on--it was to--and passed this on into the organization. You know, it was: 'Okay, we gotta do this, but make it go away.' To be honest with you, I don't want to make it sound--I for sure don't want to portray this as George jumping: 'Okay, this has gotta happen.' As I remember it--and, again, it's still vague, so I'll be very straight with you on this--is it wasn't that important. It was: 'This is unbelievable. This is just like all the other garbage we get about . . . I mean Mohammad Atta and links to al Qaeda. 'Rob,' you know, 'do something with this.' I think it was more like that than: 'Get this done.'"
Magazine asserts Feith created bogus document
Today, The American Conservative also published a report saying that the forgery was actually produced by then-Defense Undersecretary Douglas Feith's Office of Special Plans, citing an unnamed intelligence source. The source reportedly added that Suskind’s overall claim “is correct."
"My source also notes that Dick Cheney, who was behind the forgery, hated and mistrusted the Agency and would not have used it for such a sensitive assignment," the magazine wrote. "Instead, he went to Doug Feith’s Office of Special Plans and asked them to do the job. … It was Feith’s office that produced the letter and then surfaced it to the media in Iraq. Unlike the [Central Intelligence] Agency, the Pentagon had no restrictions on it regarding the production of false information to mislead the public. Indeed, one might argue that Doug Feith’s office specialized in such activity."
More of Suskind's transcripts are available here.

Don't worry everybody, don't forget that NOTHING will come of this because good ol' Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid are adamant that "impeachment is OFF the table."
Ian 08.08.08 - 10:14 pm
Hate to say it, but there simply isn't enough time left in this administration to move forward with impeachment proceedings. But, that's assuming that this administration is departing on January 20th, which I doubt very much.
Look at what's taking place in Georgia right now, and the fact that we are now sending two more aircraft carriers to the Gulf. Do you really think the war with Iran is off the table?
I expect the situation in Georgia to deteriorate further, escalating to the point where Russia becomes very involved. This is intended to serve as a distraction for Russia, so that when the shit hits the fan in the Middle East Russia has its focus and resources tied up. Putin knows this, and will act accordingly, as always.
I expect something big to happen in September, or at the latest October. The entire financial deck of cards will come crashing down, and the Iranians will be blamed for it. The war will begin and King George will suspend the elections and remain in the White House. Probably, the draft will be reinstated as well.
Hope I'm wrong.

You do realize that the person does NOT have to be in the WH to be Impeached?
So just because Bush only has a few months left means NOTHING....... He can be Impeached after he leaves office just as well as he can in office. So the Impeachment "time-frame" is just a smoke and mirrors excuse.....
The Congress does not want all the dirty laundry to be known to the public about what has really been going on!!!!!
That is why Impeachment is off the table!!!! If the public found out just 1/3 of what this administration has really done through Impeachment, they would storm the WH and lynch Bush/Cheney right there and then.

I think there is some genuine concern at the highest levels of government, as to the psychological effect the truth will have not just domestically, but globally, should it ever become widely acknowledged. The crimes of 9-11 are so vast, peoples' worldview could become scrambled relatively quickly, leading to insanity for large segments of the population.
Of course, it could be argued that would not be a huge paradigm shift.
RJCW 08.08.08 - 11:14 pm
Please, please will someone rake this motherfucker over the coals?
Oh, who I am kidding. No one in this administration will be held accountable for anything.

This should be major news and it's not. Ever wonder why???? Of course you have. The medis simply will NOT print anything negative to the Bush Co. I'm guessing they are encouraging this Edwardsstory. They'd rather have that then the truth about the lowlife scumbag crooks that they are.

Feith’s book cleverly says that Bush actually believed the Iraq stories. BUT it was Feith who fed the false data. Journalists failed consistently to press Feith, not on what the W.H. believed but on the veracity of the documents Feith gave them.

They are a huge part of the problem.
Deregulation and consolidation of mainstream media, which are now owned by a few like minded, fascist corporations, has enabled Cheney and the Bush Crime Family to dismantle our Republic. Smoking Gun? There are two dozen smoking guns in this administration! But it doesn't matter. Nothing matters, not the law, the Constitution, the welfare of the nation or human decency. Nothing matters because there is no alternative, no honest party of opposition in this country. There is Twiddly Dee and Twiddly Dumb, and both have the same stake in the status quo. All they know how to do is fiddle around playing the election game with silly slogans and PR stunts while the country falters.
We should admit it, the political system in this nation no longer works. We're at the start of a long and precipitous decline. Meanwhile John Q. Citizen is asleep at the wheel and just letting it happen.

Follow the money; Halliburton shares held "in trust" for Cheney (or options) increase in value 4x (he'll benefit when he leaves office, Rumsfeld benefits from anthrax vaccine that's injuring our troops, meanwhile our troops protect Iraq oil for years to come so that Exon et al don't have to delve into their profits to do the job, and all the other neo-cons are parlaying ties to Iraq into oil profits......well, we "let" (did not investigate election irregularities) them do it. Soooo, anyone have cheap land abroad...(exception: Paraquay).

This is exactly why it was so damn important to pass the "new and improved" FISA legislation a month or so ago.
Now, the administration can target any one of us, watch exactly what we do and say on the internet, in our email, on our phones, and if necessary, rendition our American asses to wherever they choose to shut us up.
It is absolutely insane for anyone in this country to argue otherwise, because our government has no other reason to watch its own citizens without applying for a lawful warrant!
Our beds are made and our hands are now tied, as the Congress as evidenced by the actions of both Pelosi and Reid is complicit in the demolition of our Constitutional rights. They therefore are also guilty of high treason along with the entire Bush/Cheney gang of thugs, as is every Congressman and Senator who went along with this Constitution shredding law.
We now no longer live in a democratic republic, but instead are now a Fascist state, and it would not surprise me one bit to see Bush suspend the election, declare martial law, and jail anyone who dare protest. And the Patriot Act and the new and improved FISA legislation will allow him to do just that.
God help us all. I certainly do hope I am wrong!

There have been "smoking guns" over the last four years and none got impeachment ON the table. The issue is DISTRACTION and the Bushites and Republicans are great at keeping all of us looking elsewhere. As far as the Bushites are concerned, nothing is off the table and it is business as usual. It is a long time to November, but even longer to January. I am in the camp who believes in October surprises (Or just after the November elections which are going to be a mess because of corruption and disenfranchised voters across the board), Iranian strikes and martial law here. These people are determined not to EVER leave office.

This makes the Nixon cover-up child's play.

I can't understand how this is just a talking point on liberal blogs.

So what happened is that Cheney ordered the fake memo and there is a question whether it came from the CIA or Doug Feith.
Fair enough.
The question to the WH, if they would ever answer it, is if they didn't order the fake memo, where did it come from? A Democrat mole who got hold of the VP's stationary?
Sheesh.

Nothing will come of it. The article also linked, from American Conservative, states it came from Douglas Feith's Office of Special Plans that specializes in forged documents. For the Pentagon, apparently, forging documents is not illegal.
So now that we know that much, we know where we stand. The CIA can't directly, front and center produce fake evidence for consumption by the USA, but the Pentagon and Office of Special Plans not only may do it, but does it professionally as their job description. This will all be labeled classified, thrown under lock and key, and nothing will come of it.
Time for me give up, and worry about politics that I can have some control over, the politics in the Eastern Plaguelands of Azeroth. Seriously, after watching the MSM slobber over a story in the National Inquirer about a love child, instead of the many other important things in this world, I give up.
Playing WoW is a better waste of time than worrying about America, because at least there I'll enjoy myself. No one actually cares anymore what happens to our nation beyond a few courageous individuals.
When we look at the White House for the actual perpetration all of the wrong-doing, I am increasingly convinced that we are looking in the wrong place. They may be the source of the phony evidence, but the deeper crimes are now being conducted by the likes of ABC News, CNN, and CBS, et. al (I don't include Fox anymore, we know who funds them).
The people we have long depended upon to for information are so deeply compromised, that we are done until *they* start to get investigated - which isn't going to happen, either. Off to Azeroth - looking at my nation, and the talking heads running it makes me too physically nauseous to give a damn. I have to quit before I throw up from all of the garbage.

Hey, what is the big deal? The white House started an illegal war with fake "evidence" but that war has made alot of Bush/Cheney/Mccain friends wealthy beyond immagination. How pathetic our media has become. This should be a HUGE story and at the very very least, investigated thoroughly. But, do you think the media cares? Evidently not...Edwards' affair is much more important news. I refuse to believe the bullsh*t that this is a liberal media. IF it were, at least someone would have the b*lls to investigate. I have to wonder if Bush/Cheney "arranged" to have this story released at the same time Edwards was because they knew that the sissy media would hold Edwards story as much much more important and it would continue to protect this administration. Anyone here McCain stammer and stutter with is 4 word reply to the Edwards scandal? I want them to continue to ask him. He's guilty of the same thing and he knows it.
Anyway, even IF this administration is almost over, there surely must be a way to punish for some crimes. I mean give me a break.

Israel's influence over US military planning at Cheney's "Office Of Special Lies", as revealed by insider, Karen Kwiatkowski:
The inescapable conclusion we must draw is that the Bush administration policy leading into the Iraq War was dominated by officials, grouped under Cheney and Rumsfeld in particular, principally neocons and including Wolfowitz, Libby, Feith, Perle, Abrams, Shulsky, Luti, Bolton, Joseph, Hadley, Wurmser, Franklin, Cambone, Ledeen, Card, Hughes, Rhode, Rove and others who as a matter of policy, and without any moral qualms, deliberately practiced deception to build their case for war. They were not duped by conniving Europeans or badly served by incompetent CIA analysts. They were engaging in "psyops," psychological operations, principally against their own people, whom they needed to delude with the most frightening imagery ("a mushroom cloud") to get their job done.
What was that job? Michael Ledeen, a central figure in the Niger uranium scandal, a sophisticated man who writes elegant prose, sums it up nicely: it requires that "Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and even Saudi Arabia" be destabilized, and that "every last drooling anti-Semitic and anti-American mullah, imam, sheikh, and ayatollah is either singing the praises of the United States of America, or pumping gasoline, for a dime a gallon, on an American military base near the Arctic Circle."
Ledeen and Ambassador Mel Sembler were co-conspirators in the Niger/Yellowcake forgery. Sembler headed up Libby's legal defense fund AND hosted a fundraiser for Lieberman after his loss to Lamont.
Arrest these traitors:
The White House Iraq Group (WHIG) was formed in August 2002 by Andrew Card, President Bush's chief of staff, to publicize the threat posed by Saddam Hussein. WHIG operated out of the Vice President's office.
The group's members included Rove, Bush advisor Karen Hughes, Senior Advisor to the Vice President Mary Matalin, Deputy Director of Communications James Wilkinson, Assistant to the President and Legislative Liaison Nicholas Calio, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

"THE SMOKING GUN" moment
If the House Democrats do not immediately call for a Special Session to Start Impeachment Hearings for Cheney they are fools.
"As John Dean points out, Bush/Cheney have broken the same laws Nixon did, only Nixon's actions did not cost the lives of over 4000 brave American men and women".
Bush and Cheney are the most impeachable US executives in American history. If the House Democrats do not hold impeachment hearings soon it will be plain to all that they are unworthy of their office.
The failure of the House Democrats to hold Bush and Cheney accountable for the WMD Lies is unforgiveable. The only way any Incumbent House Democrat will get my vote is to hold Impeachment Hearings prior to the election.
No matter what Bush/Cheney Crimes evidence comes out the House Democrats will try to ignore it. It is time for some tough love for Incumbent House Democrats.
How can we make Impeachment Hearings Happen?
Arrayed against impeachment literally, is nearly the entire Democratic Party establishment as well as most Republicans. But the Democrats control Congress and can start Impeachment Hearings with a simple majority vote. The Dems have the votes.
Most rank and file Democratic voters want Impeachment but are being ignored by the Democratic Congress.
In addition, many of the so called progressive organizations are also in lockstep with the House Democrats (such as: MoveOn, ACLU & UFPJ ) and against impeachment. It will take a very hard fight to over come this and some real courage on the part of individual Democratic voters.
In Colorado we have actually been doing negative campaigning against all incumbent Democratic Congressmen who refuse even to discuss impeachment.
We have a Congressman Udall who is running to be a Senator from Colorado. He supposedly has a liberal background but is moving right as fast as he can. He avoids all protesters who want to stop the Iraq War funding and who support impeachment. The difficult aspect is that the Colorado Democratic Party, the Media, and most Colorado Progressive organizations are helping him avoid us.
Even so, the race for the US Senate from Colorado is statistically "too close to call", so we have a real chance to make a difference here. We believe that since the race is "so close" that we actually can stop Udall from winning and going to the Senate.
The way we are doing this is by doing "Negative Protesting" at our weekly impeachment events, at all of his public events and by constant "commenting" on all newspaper articles about Udall (nationwide). We only have to sway the vote of a very small percentage of voters to keep Udall out of the Senate. This is doable.
Up until about two weeks ago, the honking at our weekly events had quadrupled since January. Then we used much "tougher" anti-Udall language on our signs and the honking doubled again. So much so that the Denver Police came and threatened arrest if we continued to use "honk to impeach" signs and also threatened us with citations for "disturbing the peace". A strong indication that we are getting to the Democratic establishment and that the public is with us.
Regarding "commenting", after awhile you become somewhat adept at changing the subject of an article to relate it to Udall and why he shouldn't be a Senator from Colorado. It really stirs people up and gets the discussion going. If you all are interested in how we do that I can share a list of links to articles that we've commented on.
Given that impeachment advocates have worked hard to lobby Congress to hold hearings and have done so for many years with no results, we think it is time for all impeachment advocates to get tough with Incumbent House Democrats.
The House Democrats have ignored us for years. Unless we threaten to un-elect them with negative campaigning they will continue to ignore us. The only thing they care about is getting re-elected.
Unless Angry Liberal Democrats, Independents, Republicans, Greens and the rest of you get off the couch and carry signs in front of all Incumbent House Democratic Congressmen's offices with harsh language such as "UDALL is a Traitor to Our Constitution because he Refuses To Impeach"...
There Will Be No Impeachment.
It is up to you.

Can anyone now doubt that The Big Dick orchestrated the events of September 11, 2001? Impeachment? No. Trial and execution? Yes. And, dammit Barack, ground all flights to Paraguay.

This all stinks...why would Georgia piss Russia off-did someone in the US tell them that "we had their back", or that we wouldn't interfere?
Remember what the MSM was talking about about ad nauseum before the 9/11 attacks?
Gary Condit and Chandra Levy.
What is just gearing up in the MSM now?
John Edwards' affair and his possible fathering of a child.
Between Edwards, the weekend, and the start of the Olympics,no one is paying enough attention.

Reply to RemoveBush's comment: “That is why Impeachment is off the table!!!!! If the public found out just 1/3 of what this administration has really done through Impeachment, they would storm the WH and lynch Bush/Cheney right there and then.”
In reply I'll borrow those famous words of Dick Cheney's...
"So?"

MSM says...Screw this! We've got an ex-Gov't official and presidential hopeful lie about sex!
Sex sells, you know. People don't want to believe that administration has duped them on this big of a scale...unless it involves sex.

"Do you know of any crimes to impeach the President?" Paraphrasing Nancy Pelosi. Last time she said it was on THE VIEW two weeks ago!!! Is she not the dumbest Speaker ever? What is she a retard?
IMPEACHMENT'S OFF THE TABLE. What a witch!

I hope all of you get to be presidents some day. You all seem quick to judge, have agendas, believe whatever someone tells you and/or ready to use immediate necessary action on sight. For some reason that sounds just like how you look upon Bush.

another propaganda story with "alleged" written all over it. i hope you got a reacharound from the guy who made up this one.

With all due respect: this is irrelevant to the important issues raised by the US invasion and ongoing occupation of Iraq. Even if it were true that the 9/11 attacks were 100% planned and executed by the Iraqi government, the US invasion of Iraq as it was carried out would still have been 100% illegal.
A US military attack on Iraq MIGHT have been legal ONLY under the following circumstances: the US had submitted evidence of Iraqi involvement in 9/11 to the United Nations and/or the International Criminal Court, and a UN investigation and/or a trial at the ICC then found that that evidence made a persuasive legal case against Iraq, AND if the Iraqi government then exhibited both an intention and a capacity to carry out more such attacks against the US. A US attack on Iraq in the absence of the latter condition – i.e. an attack of sheer revenge for a past attack, in the absence of compelling evidence that another such attack was imminent – would have been completely illegal. Moreover, even if all the conditions in international law had been met, a US attack on Iraq would still have been illegal under US law in the absence of a declaration by the US Congress of a state of war between the USA and Iraq. And even if that latter condition had been met in addition to all the others, the US would still not have the right to continue to occupy Iraq after it had removed the regime that had carried out the 9/11 attack and created conditions that would preclude the return to power of the Baath as it existed under Saddam – which conditions in fact were met in Iraq long ago. Whatever reasons the US states it has for continuing to occupy Iraq, the need to prevent the return to power of the Baath is certainly not one of them.
That is why I think that articles like this are a dangerous distraction. Dangerous because they might give people the idea that IF it had been true that Atta and/or other 9/11 hijackers had been sponsored by Iraq, that in itself would have justified the US invasion of Iraq and the US’ ongoing occupation of Iraq five years later. That is wrong. It is nowhere near the truth. It is wildly off the mark.

Impeach cheney for providing false information on terrorism, a felony violation of the USA Patriot Act.
August 9, 2008 by patriotact
Dick Cheney is being accused by Wolf Blitzer of felony violations of the USA Patriot Act for providing false information on terrorism, a felony violation of the USA Patriot Act. Cheney is being accused of forging false information on terrorism and knowingly providing false information on terrorism.
If documents and statements were prepared that were to be used to promote the idea that Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda were connected to one another and were both connected to 911 then that is knowingly providing false information on terrorism and is indeed conspiracy to provide false information on terrorism.
If Dick Cheney forged documents in collusion with the CIA to knowngly provide false information on terrorism connecting Saddam Hussein with Al Qaeda and 911 then that is a serious and egregious felony violation of the USA Patriot Act.
My mouth agape, I pant, unwilling to accept this at first. My big juicy apple, and it is so bitter, so filled with worms and maggots. But I am so hungry.
If Dick Cheney forged documents on white house stationary that provided fasle information on terrorism then Dick Cheney is guilty of an extremely serious and egregious felony violation of the USA Patriot Act. The only remedy for felony violation of the USA Patriot Act by the CIA and Dick Cheney acting in collusion is the swift impeachment of Dick Cheney.
The documents of treason written on the revered stationary of your founding father’s nation, how sad can this be? I feel so old.
There are many felony violations of the USA Patriot Act to observe in the conspiratoral collusion of the CIA and Dick Cheney in felony violation of the USA Patriot Act. A rare treat in jurisprudence, very few felony violations of the USA Patriot Act are so egregious and serious than Dick Cheney’s felony violation of the USA Patriot Act by providing false information on terrorism in forged documents.
Articles of Impeachment based solely on felony violations of the USA Patriot Act must be written and executed by the republicans and submitted to Nancy Pelosi.
It is unAmerican to allow Dick Cheney to provide false information on terrorism and violate the felony provisions of the USA Patriot Act.
We must impeach Dick Cheney with accusation of crime, felony violation of the USA Patriot Act, so as to cause the impeachment of Dick Cheney.

1 Comments:
Bush is the worst president in American history. Bush facilitated the 9/11 attacks. Subsequently, Bush lied to Congress and the American people relative to the reasons for invading Iraq. Bush purposefully misled Congress and the American people. Then, Bush murdered more than 4,000 United States service members. And Bush wounded more than 30,000 United States service members. In torturing prisoners of war, Bush patently violated the Geneva Convention. Bush unlawfully wiretapped United States citizens. In using “signing statements” to challenge hundreds of laws passed by Congress, Bush violated the Constitution. Bush has ignored global warming. Bush is guilty of criminal negligence relative to the response to Hurricane Katrina. Bush disobeys our democratic values and Constitution. Bush is a disgrace to the United States.
Furthermore, Ron Suskind has revealed that Bush directed the forgery of a letter connecting Iraq to the 9/11 attacks. Bush is beyond help.
