AFGHANISTAN WAR -- UPDATE (must read!)

September 26, 2009

WORD

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers. - Richard Feynman

The highest form of literary subtlety, in a corrupt social order, is to tell the plain truth-- Edward Abbey

GROWING THE WAR WITHOUT END

Rick Rozoff, Global Research - Over the past week U.S. newspapers and television networks have been abuzz with reports that Washington and its NATO allies are planning an unprecedented increase of troops for the war in Afghanistan, even in addition to the 17,000 new American and several thousand NATO forces that have been committed to the war so far this year.

The number, based on as yet unsubstantiated reports of what U.S. and NATO commander Stanley McChrystal and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen have demanded of the White House, range from 10,000 to 45,000. . .

An additional 45,000 troops would bring the U.S. total to 113,000. There are also 35,000 troops from some 50 other nations serving under NATO's International Security Assistance Force in the nation, which would raise combined troop strength under McChrystal's command to 148,000 if the larger number of rumored increases materializes.

As the former Soviet Union withdrew its soldiers from Afghanistan twenty years ago the New York Times reported "At the height of the Soviet commitment, according to Western intelligence estimates, there were 115,000 troops deployed." Nearly 150,000 U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan would represent the largest foreign military presence ever in the land. . .

McChrystal's evaluation also indicates that the war will not only escalate within Afghanistan but will also be stepped up inside Pakistan and may even target Iran. . .

As to who is responsible for the thirty-year disaster that is Afghanistan, McChrystal's assessment contains a sentence that may get past most readers. It is this:

"The major insurgent groups in order of their threat to the mission are: the Quetta Shura Taliban (05T), the Haqqani Network (HQN), and the Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin (HiG)."

The last-named is the guerrilla force of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the largest recipient of hundreds of millions (perhaps billions) of U.S. dollars provided by the CIA to the Peshawar Seven Mujahideen bloc fighting the Soviet-backed government of Afghanistan from 1978-1992.

While hosting Hekmatyar and his allies at the White House in 1985 then President Ronald Reagan referred to his guests as "the moral equivalents of America's founding fathers."

Throughout the 1980s the CIA official in large part tasked to assist the Mujahideen with funds, arms and training was Robert Gates, now U.S. Secretary of Defense.

Last December BBC News reported: "In his book, From the Shadows, published in 1996, Mr Gates defended the role of the CIA in undertaking covert action which, he argued, helped to win the Cold War. In a speech in 1999, Mr Gates said that its most important role was in Afghanistan.

"'CIA had important successes in covert action. Perhaps the most consequential of all was Afghanistan where CIA, with its management, funnelled billions of dollars in supplies and weapons to the mujahideen, and the resistance was thus able to fight the vaunted Soviet army to a standoff and eventually force a political decision to withdraw,' he said."

Now according to McChrystal the same Gulbuddin Hekmatyar who was cultivated and sponsored by McChrystal's current boss, Gates, is in charge of one of the three groups the Pentagon and NATO are waging ever-escalating counterinsurgency operations in South Asia against.

To make matters even more intriguing, former British foreign secretary Robin Cook - as loyal a pro-American Atlanticist as exists - conceded in the Guardian on July 8, 2005 that "Bin Laden was. . . a product of a monumental miscalculation by western security agencies. Throughout the 80s he was armed by the CIA and funded by the Saudis to wage jihad against the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. Al-Qaida, literally 'the database', was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians.". . .

Pentagon chief Gates' 27 years in the CIA, including his tenure as director of the agency from 1991-1993, is being brought to bear on the Afghan war according to the Los Angeles Times of September 19, 2009, which revealed that "The CIA is deploying teams of spies, analysts and paramilitary operatives to Afghanistan, part of a broad intelligence 'surge' that will make its station there among the largest in the agency's history, U.S. officials say.

"When complete, the CIA's presence in the country is expected to rival the size of its massive stations in Iraq and Vietnam at the height of those wars. Precise numbers are classified, but one U.S. official said the agency already has nearly 700 employees in Afghanistan. . .

The dramatic upsurge in CIA deployments in South Asia won't be limited to Afghanistan. Neighboring Pakistan will be further overrun by U.S. intelligence operatives also.

On September 12 a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan contesting the announced expansion of the U.S. embassy in the nation's capital. Pakistani media have been reporting that the United States plans to deploy a large number of marines with the plan to expand its embassy in Islamabad."

The challenge was organized by Barrister Zafarullah Khan, who "said that Saudi Arabia was also trying to get 700,000 acres of land in the country."

He was quoted on the day of the presentation of the petition as warning "Giving away Pakistani land to U.S. and Arab countries in this fashion is a threat for the stability and sovereignty of the country" and "further added that the purpose of giving the land to U.S. embassy was to establish an American military base. . .

Just as troops serving under NATO command in the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan now include those from almost fifty countries on five continents, so the broadening scope of the war is absorbing vaster tracts of Eurasia and the Middle East.

America's longest armed conflict since that in Indochina and NATO's first ground war threatens to not only remain the world's most dangerous conflagration but also one that plunges the 21st Century into a war without end.

gaddafi virgins body guard
libya quaddafi female body guards
Female beautiful Bodyguards!

"'It's showing the notion of the female bodyguard as being these women who are liberated and how it extends to all sectors of society...Bodyguards are really a symbol of this new feminism that exists. One wonders, once Qaddafi is no longer there, will the women still have this future? Do they have a future without him?'

[Ajami] says that while the bodyguards may exude sexuality, it demonstrates modern views on gender equality and family life under the Qaddafi regime. 'They present themselves well. The girls are trained in weaponry, but at the same time they want to look good. I really felt it was more about their pride and confidence. Most of the women who go into it are married with children.'"

In his talk, Kaddafi, wearing a long, flowing, brown robe and speaking in rapid-fire Arabic, denounced the Security Council ("It should not be called the Security Council. It should be called the Terror Council") and at one point seemed to suggest the Israelis were behind the 1963 Kennedy assassination. His apparent reasoning: Jack Ruby, the killer of Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, was an "Israeli" agent. (Ruby was Jewish but had no known tie to Israel.)

WASHINGTON BUREAU

UNITED NATIONS — Muammar Gadhafi waited 40 years for his turn at the United Nations microphone. He was not about to let the moment pass quickly.

In a rambling, largely improvised 95-minute address to the United Nations General Assembly, the controversial Libyan leader let fly in all directions, beginning with an attack on the UN itself, which he called a "terrorist" organization on par with Al Qaeda itself due to a format that favours the will of the mighty over the weak.

Gadhafi's full frontal attack on the veto power wielded by the UN Security Council's five permanent members was the first salvo in a marathon rant that wore out two UN translators. Among the more striking claims, many of which prompted peals of laughter from the press corps covering the proceedings:

The Libyan leader called for new investigations of all conflict and political assassinations since World War II, including the killing of John F. Kennedy, which he suggested may have been the work of Israelis.

Qadhafi praised Barack Obama as a "son of Africa," expressed hope the U.S. President would become leader for life, but worried that the post-Obama America will revert to its former place on the world stage.

Positioning himself as a champion of post-colonial indemnification, Qadhafi called for $7.7 trillion in restitution for Africa. Until the debt is paid, Qadhafi called for immigration without limits to allow Africans to migrate to Europe to share in the wealth that was stolen from them.

In a rambling aside about the sheer jet-lag many world leaders suffer in the journey to New York, Gadhafi called for the UN headquarters to be relocated to the "middle" or "Eastern hemisphere" to make the trip less arduous and relieve New York of so attractive a terror target. Qadhafi suggested Beijing or Delhi as alternates and said America would not be "angry" over the transfer but would welcome the move.

Addressing the dangers of "swine flu," Qadhafi conspiratorially suggested the ailment may be have deliberately released by profit-seeking pharmaceutical firms looking to enrich themselves on vaccination sales. He suggested "fish flu" may be next.

Gadhafi attacked the NATO-led effort in Afghanistan as folly, saying he was doing Western allies a favour by speaking so frankly. "If I really want to deceive my friends in America and Britain I would encourage them to send more troops to this bloodbath." Instead, Gadhafi suggested Afghanistan be abandoned to battle internally for its future, even if all-out civil war resulted. He compared the Taliban to the Vatican, describing both as "religious states" and observing that Al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden was neither Taliban nor Afghan.

Calling for a probe into the hanging of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Gadhafi wondered at the identity of his masked hangmen, suggesting that they may have been the then leaders of the U.S. and U.K., for all anyone knows.

Gadhafi's surreal speech – his first to the UN, 40 years after seizing power in oil-rich Libya – followed immediately on the heels of Obama's keynote address this morning, in which the U.S. President called for an new era of international engagement and an end to the grandstanding that so often infuses United Nations discourse.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67vSQN3Ga1s&feature=player_embedded

he launched into the litany of Israeli "crimes" that should be investigated and counted among them Kennedy's assassination. Jack Ruby, he noted solemnly, offed Lee Harvey Oswald before the truth could be learned about JFK's plans to confront Israel over its nuclear reactor in Dimona.

Muammar Gaddafi turns his United Nations General Assembly debut into a very long rant
Posted: September 23, 2009, 4:33 PM by Scott Maniquet
World

In his debut speech today to the UN General Assembly today, Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi was supposed to speak for 15 minutes – he went on for one hour and 36 minutes. After being introduced by countryman and new General Assembly President Ali Treki as “leader of the revolution, president of the African Union, King of Kings of Africa,” Col. Gaddafi gave a speech that has been widely described as “rambling.”

The highlights:

On the audience (after speaking for quite a while)

"Please can I have your attention. All of you are tired, having jet lag. ... You are tired. All of you are asleep."

Barack Obama (who he kept referring to as “my son)

"We are happy that a young African Kenyan was voted for and made president. Obama is a glimpse in the dark for the next four years, but I'm afraid we may go back to square one. Can you guarantee that after Obama that America will be different? We would be happy if Obama could stay forever as the president of America."

Taliban

"Why are we against the Taliban? Why are we against Afghanistan? If the Taliban wants to make a religious state, okay, like the Vatican. Does the Vatican constitute a danger against us? No. If the Taliban wants to create an Islamic emirate, who said they are the enemy?"

African compensation

"7.77 trillion dollars — that is the compensation the Africans deserve from the countries that colonized Africa."

United Nations

"Superpowers have interests and they use the power of the United Nations to protect their interests. The third world is terrified and being terrorized and living in fear."

The Security Council

"The Security Council did not provide us with security but with terror and sanctions. It should not be called the Security Council, it should be called the Terror Council."

Security Council veto

"The veto is against the charter, we do not accept it and we do not acknowledge it."

Iraq invasion

"The mother of all evils."

Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald

"Why did this Israeli kill the killer of John F. Kennedy? ... We have to open the files!"

Investigations

Gaddafi called for inquiries into:

> The Afghan war, the Korean War, war over Suez Canal, the Vietnam War, and the wars in Iraq;
> Massacre at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camp during the Lebanese civil war;
> Israel’s Gaza offensive;
> The death of civil rights leader Martin Luther King.

Swine Flu

He suggested it might be a corporate or military weapon

Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Called for the creation of a single state — called Israteen. Said Arabs did not hate Jews. “You are the ones who burned them, not us. You expelled them,” apparently referring to European nations.

Venuzuelan President: 9/11 was an inside job!

"It has been eight years of 11 September 2001. Unforgettable. How to forget the day when the most brutal imperial scaling. No one can question the official version .presented by Bush . about the events occurred in New York."

WHO SAID THIS?

911 was an inside job by the US military,

FRINGE OPINION?

The Multipolar World: The New World

We cannot continue reproducing, as if we were blinds, the miserable logic against the ecologic order and the minimal life conditions in society: a logic stealing the future and demolishing our identities. It is the imperial, capitalist logic

By Hugo Chávez Frías

Once this long tour has ended, there are many valuable reflections into which we need to go deeper.

I returned more convinced than ever that it is absolutely possible, and necessary, to bring down the political, economic, cultural and military hegemony that the Yankee empire wants to impose on the world. Noam Chomsky is not wrong when he radically brings up the great dilemma of our time: hegemony or survival. If we do not bring down the imperial hegemony, the world will collapse into barbarism.

We cannot continue reproducing, as if we were blinds, the miserable logic against the ecologic order and the minimal life conditions in society: a logic stealing the future and demolishing our identities. It is the imperial, capitalist logic. We are obliged to walk other paths without giving up the particular processes of each people.

Faced with this ambush that tries to deviate us from our path, we must create mew forms of association and encourage our own resistance strategies. Resistance and multiple creation turn fate into awareness, as French writer André Malraux used to say.

Therefore, Venezuela continues and will continue fighting, with the same consistency, for the creation of a multipolar world. Now well, the multipolar world we want is not around the corner.

This tour has allowed me to clearly look at the panorama.

I want to resume what I said in the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia: Today we can say that the world has stopped being unipolar. But there is not a bipolar world, nor are there clear signs of the creation of four or five great poles of world power. It is clear, for instance, that the organization of Our America in one single political block is not in the immediate horizon: It will not come true in the short term. But the same happens in Africa, Asia and Europe.

What we do can currently see is a number of growing geopolitical cores on the map of a world that we could now call the New World. It is a multipolar world as the transition to multipolarity.

The acceleration towards the transition to multipolarity will depend on the political clearness, will and decision made by the countries in each core.

The forces that want to leave us behind in history want to keep us scattered by following the same perverse game, whose ill-fated results we already know. Nevertheless, with this long journey, and by crossing the borders of three continents and opening our liberating heart to the world, we fulfilled the sacred duty of deepening the inexorable pact among the peoples which share the same fate and hopes, and bet on equal destinies.

It will be difficult for them to silence the multiple chants sang by multiple nations, which, face with the hegemonic globalization imposed by capitalism, have started to build counter-hegemonic globalizations. Here I use the terms of Portuguese Professor and Intellectual Boaventura de Sousa Santos when, in his book Epistemologies of the South, he proposes us to think about a new multinational democratic movement. In this sense, I felt, with the same spirit among the fraternal peoples of Libya, Algeria, Syria, Iran, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Russia and Spain, that isolated efforts are not enough to fight the world crisis.

The affinities we found in fraternal countries are going to contribute to the march we share. Likewise, the new and multiple agreements we have endorsed are an additional sign that we are willing, with all the strength history demands, to grow by keeping the compass firmly oriented towards the achievement of our peoples' happiness.

The commitment is huge, and so is our determination to not let us be swallowed by the dark forces trying to accumulate extreme wealthy for a few people to the detriment of million of human beings. This huge and inhuman asymmetry must be radically changed; otherwise, there will not be life for anyone in a not too distant future

II

Last week marked the 36th anniversary of the Chilean tragedy. I think that one of the lessons we can learn from it is the following: It is fundamental for imperialism and the dominant class to preserve the capitalist system, no matter if they have to sweep democracy away. Comrade Salvador Allende was model democrat, yet they committed the most atrocious crime against him and his people on September 11, 1973.

Allende was the pioneer of the change of time experienced today by South America. Thus, those who have said that the path proposed by the Popular Unity was mistaken are wrong. Socialism does not mean rupture of democracy and the rule of law, but its full achievement.

It has been eight years of 11 September 2001. Unforgettable. How to forget the day when the most brutal imperial scaling. No one can question the official version .presented by Bush . about the events occurred in New York. Bu the most terrible thing was that this attack was used as excuse to provoke a .war against terrorism;. which has allowed the empire to run over peoples and sovereignties with impunity. This happened with Afghanistan and Iraq. There is also the apartheid the Palestinian people live in the hands of the Israeli state as a demonstration of those who are really the world terrorists.

III

Assuming as a useless pretext their reject to the Organic Education Law (LOE Spanish acronym), some minority sectors want to plot the beginning of the scholar year. What is it behind? The muddy interests of a little group of mafias that have always taken education as a business. This is why they do not want the teacher state to play its role.

It is clear: the counter-revolution uses no matter what in its bungler try to heat up the streets no matter how. Once again, they will defeat.

The Venezuelan people, the parents, teachers and especially the students will not allow the scholar year to be in danger.

I want to urge the people to the active defense of the LOE, read it; know it better, and off course to spread it. It is a legal law necessary for to achieve the mot important of the goals: the education as liberating and transforming praxis.

I also urge people to follow the path pointed by father Bolívar. .Nations will march towards the apex of their greatness at the same pace as their education.

Homeland, socialism or death! We will defeat!

Hugo Chávez Frías has been the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela since taking office in February of 1999.

¡Patria, socialismo o muerte! ¡Venceremos!

The great management consultancy Swindle

Masters of illusion: The great management consultancy
swindle

It's cost the NHS GBP300m and its practitioners are
wielding the axe at magazine giant Condé Nast. But is
it all just smoke and mirrors? Ex-management consultant
Matthew Stewart recalls his career in the "efficiency
business" -- and reveals its dark arts

Thursday, 17 September 2009

It was 1988, and I was just finishing a D.Phil at
Oxford University on the topic of "Nietzsche and German
Idealism". The annual recruiting season had long since
gone. My life savings had dwindled into three digits.
It came to me in a pub, over a game of pool. I was
losing badly to a pair of undergraduates who had
recently received offers from a prestigious management
consulting firm. They were about 22-years-old; I was
going on 26. As I gazed at the pool balls ricocheting
around the table, it hit me that, instead of spending
the next year watching daytime TV, I too, could earn
some ready cash by offering strategy tips to CEOs of
Fortune 500 companies.

The more I thought about it, the grander it seemed. The
next morning, I sent out 10 CVs. One ended up in the
hands of the founding partner of a small and
enlightened consultancy firm based in New York. I
landed the job by providing a credible response to this
question: How many pubs are there in Great Britain? The
purpose of that question, I realised after the
interview, was to see how easily I could talk about a
subject of which I knew almost nothing, on the basis of
facts that were almost entirely fictional. It was an
excellent introduction to management consulting.

Over the past three decades our civilisation has made a
massive investment in people like me -- the kind of
people who can allegedly practice or sell management
expertise. Within a few months of the interview in New
York, I was suited up and billed out at a rate of about
a third of a million pounds per year (only a fraction
of which landed in my pocket in those first years). I
soon discovered that my lack of a proper business
education was no disadvantage on the job, which turned
out to be more interesting and enlightening than I
expected. I would eventually leave the business in 1999
to work full-time as a writer, but during the previous
decade, I would advise French businessmen on how to
succeed in Germany; tell Americans what to do in
Eastern Europe; show the Spanish how to become more
like the Americans. I spent one particularly haunting
year advising bankers in Mexico.

Wherever I was in the world, at the beginning of every
consulting project, one thing was certain: I would know
less about the business at hand than the people I was
supposed to be advising.

"The Whale" is a graph. Its official title is
"Cumulative Customer Profitability" and it also goes by
the generic name "skew chart". The Whale is my
madeleine. One glance at its distinctive curves and in
my mind I'm back, cutting and pasting charts and text,
running through airports, hovering over a transparency
projector in front of sceptical men in suits, and
trading boozy stories with team-mates in an overpriced
hotel restaurant.

I learned the art of whale-hunting -- as we called the
art of landing a big client -- from a partner I will
call Roland. He was a jolly, well-rounded figure, with
a face like a pink bowling ball. He had a thick French
accent and drew heavily on a limited stockpile of
American colloquialisms, cheerfully painting the world
in the bold strokes and primary colours, in a style
typical of those who live their lives in a foreign
language.

In the firm, Roland was the harpooner. His specialty
was sinking the barbed hook of our services deep within
the flesh of unsuspecting clients. Roland would say: "I
asked Joe (or whoever the client was) 'Joe, can your
people tell you, right now, which of your customers are
profitable?'" (It always sounded like he was calling
them "profiteroles".) Joe would have had no idea how
his profiteroles were doing.

The analysis Roland and his team performed for Joe
followed a prescribed course. Firstly, they constructed
a database of the client's customers, detailing each
customer's product and transaction activity over the
preceding year. Next they established a clean profit
and loss statement for the whole business, including
all overheads but excluding extraordinary items. Then,
to allocate the revenues and costs of the business to
each customer, they devised algorithms based on
detailed models of each kind of product and
transaction. The complexity of these algorithms,
naturally, was such that they were far beyond the
powers of most clients to comprehend. The result was an
analysis of the exact revenue, expense, and profit to
the client attributable to each of its customers.
Finally, the team lined up the customers according to
their profitability, thus allowing the client to see
how much of its profits could be attributed to its most
profitable customers, and how much to the least
profitable.

"Et voilà!" Roland would announce, revealing his graph.
It was the leviathan.

The typical Whale showed that the top 20 per cent of
the client's customers accounted for significantly more
than 100 per cent of its profits. That is to say, if
the client had served only these star customers, it
would in theory have made much more money than it did.
For the next 70 per cent or so of the customers, the
line went flat, indicating that they made little
additional contribution to the bottom line. For the
final 10 per cent of customers, the line took a
nosedive, meaning that these dogs were subtracting from
the client's profits. Toss in lines to track the
cumulative revenues and expenses of customers, and the
whole thing assumed the distinctive shape of a giant
fish.

I eventually came to understand that it is possible to
construct a Whale chart for just about any business
anywhere. It makes no difference whether the business
is inherently good or bad, well-managed or in the hands
of chimpanzees. It doesn't even have to be a business --
it can be a football game or a population chart. In
fact, you don't even have to do the analysis. You can
save 80 per cent of the effort by just borrowing data
from a previous analysis. There's always going to be a
skew. It isn't science; it's a party trick.

But it is also something close to a universal law.
Joseph Juran, a Romanian-born engineer who championed
quality control in industrial and manufacturing
settings, called it the principle of "the vital few and
the trivial many". The Whale is about focusing on the
things that really make a difference. It is the number
one item on every management guru's to-do list. It's
about the big break, the main chance, the sweet spot,
the Big Kahuna.

It was just one among a variety of quantitative models
that occupied the analytic core of my consulting
career, but it best represents the data-driven approach
to life that stayed with me long after I left the
business. In its best moments, management consulting is
a recognition of the quantitative nature of our reality
-- of the fact, too easily overlooked by innumerate arts
graduates, that a hard look at the numbers can explain
much of the structure of the world around us.

The management consulting industry depends on a small
number of gargantuan clients; we thought we were doing
pretty well out of one of our clients who spent $12m
annually on our services -- until we learned that this
behemoth's total spending on "strategy" consultants was
about $100m per year. In order to grasp why some large
organisations (but not others) spend so much money on
something as ethereal as "strategy," one must dispose
of the naïve idea that consulting involves the transfer
of knowledge.

The savvier consultants and their clients understand
that the basis of the business is not technological but
anthropological -- and that this is not always a bad
thing. Among human beings, it turns out, the perception
of expertise, however unfounded, can sometimes be used
to good purpose. As the shamans who poison chickens and
the soothsayers who read entrails have long
demonstrated, sometimes it is more important to build a
consensus around a good decision than to make the best
possible decision; sometimes it is more useful to
believe that a decision is sanctioned by a higher
authority than to acknowledge that it rests on mere
conjecture; and sometimes it is better to make a truly
random choice than to continue to follow the
predictable inclinations of one's established
prejudices. Consultants, following in the footsteps of
their pagan forebears, understand that they must adopt
the holy mien of a priestly caste.

So, cuff links matter; flying first class and ritual
feasting, too, are part of the job. But consultants
also know that an outrageously unjustified level of
self-confidence can add several points to one's
perceived expertise quotient.

The most important of the all-too-human functions of
shaman-consultants is to sanctify and communicate
opinion. Like ministers of information, consultants
condense the message, smooth out the dissonances, unify
the rhetoric, and then repeat and amplify it ad nauseam
through the client's rank and file. The chief message
to be communicated is that you will be expected to work
much harder than you ever have before and your chances
of losing your job are infinitely greater than you ever
imagined.

Those who are determined to find fault with the
honourable occupation of shaman-consulting should not
do so on account of its anthropological nature per se.
There is little point in criticising people for being
human. Rather, they should focus their rage on the
exemption from very ordinary requirements of
accountability and transparency which that
anthropological nature makes possible for both
consultants and their clients. The pretence of
knowledge where none is to be had, after all, is also a
licence to represent private interest as a public good.
Managers of client organisations easily abuse this
licence, using shareholder money to pay for consultants
in order to confer legitimacy on actions that deserve
proper scrutiny from truly independent sources. For
consultants, the arrangement has all the beauty of
writing your own report card.

In this respect, the problem of consulting is the
problem of the "knowledge economy" in a nutshell. When
you put forward the fiction that management is an
exercise in calculus, you tend to assume that integrity
is a cost of doing business rather than its foundation.
When you stipulate that management is the province of
experts, you lose sight of the fact that organising
fruitful co-operation among human beings is principally
a matter of building trust. And you forget the most
elemental truth of political philosophy, that in any
system that does not have the features of transparency
and accountability, no one trusts anyone.

I was taught about charts early in my career. Another
important lesson was that a management consultant must
learn to be loathed by his client's employees. It was
while working on one project at a bank, early in my
career, that I received instruction on this matter --
from Luigi, a senior manager. Luigi was the sworn enemy
of Lorenzo, the man who had hired us.

"So, you are Lorenzo's boys?" Luigi said through thick
rings of cigarette smoke, when he eventually deigned to
meet with me. The contempt in his voice was as thick as
cement. I guessed he was about twice my age, and he
probably weighed about twice as much too. His face and
his hair looked like they had been rolled around in an
ashtray.

"Do you know why consultants like to have
haemorrhoids?" he asked.

I looked at him with some alarm. "Because it makes them
look concerned!"

Many employees in the client companies hate us, of
course, because we watch them. We track their every
move as we hunt down inefficiencies. Then we fire 10
per cent of them and tell the rest to make up for the
difference.

But disgruntled victims of the process should know that
no one is more watched than the consultants themselves.
After every project, and often in the middle,
consultants at elite firms receive multiple evaluations
on their performance. Every six months, they sit down
for a formal, paranoia-inducing assessment of their
value to the global economy. At the end of the year, in
a typical firm, 20 per cent are then "counselled" that
they should seek "development opportunities" elsewhere.

It is a challenging environment, psychologically
speaking, and it is with some appreciation for the
stressful nature of the business that one should
reflect upon the chief paradox of the consultant's
lifestyle -- that the quest for efficiency seems
inextricably bound up with monumental luxury.

For long stretches of my career I was literally
homeless; I hopped from hotel to hotel and spent
weekends at exotic locations on the theory that this
cost the client less than sending me back to a home
that didn't exist. But I did not hop from just any
hotel to any other. On the contrary, I sometimes felt
compelled to rearrange my schedule so that I might stay
in the five-star hotel of my choice. As a consultant, I
developed a taste for hand-fed Japanese beef and the
kind of truffles that can only be found by a particular
family of pigs that lives near an inaccessible Alpine
village.

Yet I was a positive model of frugality compared with
some of my fellows. At one legendary dinner -- around
the time that the eerily Enron-like consulting firm I
helped to found was being sold to the public as part of
a visionary, dotcom enterprise -- a group of partners
allegedly set a company record for a restaurant meal at
around GBP20,000. "Living well is the best revenge," as
one of my peers put it, and we certainly believed in
revenge.

It was with a sense of confidence -- or possibly
overconfidence -- in the power of numbers, accumulated
over my first few years as a consultant, that I readily
accepted Roland's proposition that I should lead a team
of five on a four-week "diagnostic" project for a large
bank in Mexico.

"It's a fantastic project," he assured me. "It's about
risk management. They need a lot of help. It's pretty
scary down there. I'm going to position you as a risk
management expert."

"You know I never did any work in the risk management
area, right?" I said. He replied: "Relax! We have three
weeks before the project starts."

As both Roland and I knew, however, my supposed
preparation for the job was beside the point. All we
needed was a handful of models and pile of numbers.
We'd find our Whale alright.

Sure enough, in Mexico, after four weeks on the job, we
spotted him. In a windowless conference room deep
within the bank headquarters, a skinny,
stooped-shouldered man named Fernando sat in front of a
laptop computer and placed stupendous, one-directional
bets on the Mexican stock market. Appearances
notwithstanding, Fernando was a world-class optimist.
And with the market charging forward like a bull in the
ring, he looked like a world-class genius, too. He was
making so much money for the bank that everyone just
kept shouting "Ole!".

My year in Mexico followed in the well-worn trajectory
of the consulting business in general. The quantitative
models with which we supplied our client were fine
indeed, and sometimes quite elegant. But they could not
explain why the project morphed from a four-week,
deeply discounted "diagnostic" to a highly profitable,
year-long "implementation". Nor did they produce much
substantive change in the prognosis for the client.
Fernando continued to place his bets; the bank
continued to print money. Everyone believed the market
would go up, and they believed this because it was very
much in their interest to do so. It was not in our
interest to push them too hard to conceive of the
alternative.

Toward the end of that year, I sat down to dinner with
Roland over a feast of fried crickets, ant eggs, and
other exotic specialties produced by large armies of
Mexican workers. Roland was ecstatic. He was dreaming
of landing even bigger fish, of building a global firm
trading in whale blubber. He opened his arms wide, as
though outlining a larger version of his ever-expanding
midriff. I glanced down at my midsection and once again
I felt the horror. My belly was evolving into a
miniature bowling ball. I -- once a proud member of
Worcester College's third eight rowing team -- was fat.

In December 1994, the Mexican government decided to
relax the controls on the peso exchange rate. Investors
responded by dumping the currency, which lost about
half of its value in a matter of days. The stock market
crashed. The financial system would have collapsed
entirely, had not the US government intervened. Our
client could ill afford our already-outrageous fees and
so my year in Mexico came to an abrupt end.

The best that can be said about my work south of the
border, in common with many other projects I worked on
during my career as a consultant, is that perhaps it
amounted to a palliative, making the pain slightly more
bearable for our client. The more plausible judgment,
however, is that we were an expensive irrelevance, not
so different from the Mesoamerican priesthoods of
earlier centuries. We spent our time and energy
squabbling over the spoils in the unlit corridors of
power at the top of the economic hierarchy, riding our
vastly-inflated claims of expertise all the way to the
bank, wilfully oblivious to the systemic risk rising up
from below.

According to the rules of management consultancy, I
escaped intact, first to New York, briefly, then on to
London. Neither of which were as far from Mexico as I
had once imagined. The food was different. The business
of peddling "knowledge" was the same.

USA secret power - google GLADIO

google GLADIO to see what the state of USA POWER was 30 years ago,
and then IMAGINE what DECEPTION they can do today.

MOSCOW. (RIA Novosti political commentator Andrei Fedyashin, additional
reporting by Artoh Jutu, FInland) - The United
States intelligence community has received broader and more specific
objectives for countering threats to American national security and
interests.

Major strategic goals for all 16 American intelligence agencies have been
set forth in a new four-year National Intelligence Strategy (NIS), which
has been submitted to Congress. This is the first blueprint of this kind
during the Obama Administration. By tradition, it is drafted by the
Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

Speaking to journalists in San Francisco on September 16, Director of
National Intelligence Dennis Blair mentioned a number of "new concerns"
-- economic crisis, swine flu, bla bla
Blair did not mention all of the new concerns. The report also raises
concern about China's aggressive pursuit of natural resources around the
world and its efforts to modernize its military, and states that Russia
may also try to reassert itself as a regional or global power.

To understand his motives, we should recall who he is.
Sixty-two-year-old Dennis Cutler Blair is a retired admiral, the third
DNI, and a one-hundred-percent American tough guy. He is a
sixth-generation naval officer. In his thirty-four-year naval career, he
commanded frigates, missile destroyers, and the Kitty Hawk Battle Group
aircraft carrier. His last strictly naval position was the
commander-in-chief of U.S. Pacific Command. He then served on the Joint
Chiefs of Staff and as Associate Director of Central Intelligence for
Military Support.

Blair is known for his quick temper and frequent disregard for the chain
of command (on several occasions, he refused to implement political
instructions from the U.S. Department of State in Asia). In the Navy, he
is primarily appreciated for his irrepressible character and his
inclination towards purely naval ventures. Young American naval officers
like to recount how Blair, then the captain of the Cochrane missile
destroyer, water-skied behind it at a speed of 38 knots. Last January,
President Barack Obama appointed him DNI.

It is worth noting that even during the Bush administration, American
intelligence officers were not happy about the creation of another
coordinator position. After a complaint from the first DNI, John
Negroponte, (CIA Blood-baths in Central America) George W. Bush
(illegal war president) even had to issue a special directive ordering
intelligence agencies to fulfill the instructions and reply to the
inquiries of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Now Blair is ready to give American intelligence agencies broader
missions. To create a new enemy and frighten the US population into submission
with more terror -- expect new "violent extremist groups , cyber
intruders and criminal organizations", It cites attempts to "manipulate
U.S. policy and diplomatic efforts, disrupt or mitigate the effectiveness
of our military plans and weapons systems, and erode our economic and
technological advantage."

Indeed, If the US population isn't terified enough, there will less money
for the humongous military apparatus and development of more futuristic
and covert weapons by which to dominate the world.

9/11 was a phantastic demonstration of might. ALL countries have submitted,
but the psyop is wearing off, and may even be exposed by the growing
911-truth movement in the USA.
Considering the audacity of the crime and the huge effort on the cover-up,
the moment when an insider will go public may not be so far off.
When that happens, the PR disaster may enable a global justice movement
to be effective - something that is long overdue.

BOYCOTT ISRAEL - finally somebody DOES something!

Britain.s Unions Commit to Mass Boycott Movement of Israeli goods
Date : 17/9/2009 Time : 14:39

LONDON, September 17, 2009 (WAFA)- In a landmark decision, Britain.s trade unions have voted overwhelmingly to commit to build a mass boycott movement, disinvestment and sanctions on Israel for a negotiated settlement based on justice for Palestinians.

A press release of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign said the motion was passed at the 2009 TUC Annual Congress in Liverpool today (17 September), by unions representing 6.5 million workers across the UK.

Hugh Lanning, chair of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said: .This motion is the culmination of a wave of motions passed at union conferences this year, following outrage at Israel.s brutal war on Gaza, and reflects the massive growth in support for Palestinian rights. We will be working with the TUC to develop a mass campaign to boycott Israeli goods, especially agricultural products that have been produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the Palestinian West Bank..

The motion additionally called for the TUC General Council to put pressure on the British government to end all arms trading with Israel and support moves to suspend the EU-Israel trade agreement. Unions are also encouraged to disinvest from companies which profit from Israel.s illegal 42-year occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.

The motion was tabled by the Fire Brigades Union. The biggest unions in the UK, including Unite, the public sector union, and UNISON, which represents health service workers, voted in favour of the motion.

The motion also condemned the Israeli trade union Histadrut.s statement supporting Israel.s war on Gaza, which killed 1,450 Palestinians in three weeks, and called for a review of the TUC.s relationship with Histadrut.

Britain.s trade unions join those of South Africa and Ireland in voting to use a mass boycott campaign as a tool to bring Israel into line with international law, and pressure it to comply with UN resolutions that encourage justice and equality for the Palestinian people.

Mystery group on trial in Turkey

By Eric S Margolis/ Istanbul

Bad as the violent rain storm was that lashed this city of 12mn last week, leaving 31 dead and a huge mess, Turkey is experiencing an even more violent political tempest.

Thirty-three members of a neo-fascist group called Ergenekon have been on trial, accused of murder, terrorism, and trying to overthrow the elected government. The trial was temporarily suspended after the courthouse was flooded out.

Turks everywhere are gripped by this mysterious affair. It is laying bare the working of the .deep state., a powerful cabal of retired military officers, security forces, gangsters, officials, judges, and business oligarchs. Turkey.s military denies any links to Ergekon.

The .deep state. advocates extreme Turkish nationalism and revived Pan-Turkism. Its far rightwing members are bitterly anti-Islamic, and violently oppose any admission of guilt for the mass wartime killing of the Ottoman Empire.s Armenians that occurred in 1915. They also oppose improving relations with neighbours Armenia and Greece, or making concessions to Turkey.s sizeable Kurdish minority.

Ergenekon.s plotters stand accused of plans to assassinate officials of PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), a democratic, modernising movement advocating Islamic principles of fairer wealth distribution and social welfare.

The plotters reportedly hired hitmen to kill leading liberal intellectuals, including acclaimed writer, Orhan Pamuk, and may have murdered a prominent Armenian-Turkish journalist and three Christians. They also oppose Turkey.s entry into the EU as a threat to .Turkishness..

What makes this case particularly interesting is that Ergenekon may well be linked to Gladio, a secret, far right underground group created by the US and Nato during the Cold War as a .stay behind. guerrillas to resist Soviet invasion or Communist takeovers. Gladio had a network of agents and caches of arms across Europe with secret links to Nato intelligence services.

Gladio staged numerous bombing attacks and assassinations during the 1970.s and 80.s in an effort to promote far right coups in Italy, Belgium, and Turkey, where it remains active.

A cell was even recently uncovered in Switzerland.

The Ergenekon plot is one facet of the intense struggle between Erdogan.s Islamist-lite reformists and Turkey.s 510,000-man armed forces which sees itself as defender of the anti-religious, Westernised secular state created in the 1930.s by Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey.

Turkey.s rightwing generals have overthrown or ousted four elected governments. The Turkish military establishment is traditionally close to the US and Israel, with whom it.s had extensive military, arms and intelligence dealings.

Turkey.s generals are also allied to a deeply entrenched oligarchy of business barons, judges, university rectors, media groups, and the security services.

Until PM Erdogan.s election, the military was Turkey.s real government behind a thin facade of squabbling elected politicians, a fact lost on Western observers who used to urge Turkey.s political model on the Muslim world.

An intensifying struggle is under way between the two camps. On the surface, it.s .secularism. versus .Islamic government.. But that.s just shorthand for the fierce rivalry between the military-industrial-security complex and Erdogan.s supporters, many of whom are recent immigrants to the big cities from rural areas, where Islam remains vital in spite of eight decades of government efforts to stamp it out or tightly control it.

Rightwing forces recently got allies in the Appeals Court to lay spurious corruption charges against Turkey.s respected President, Abdullah Gul.

The Erdogan government struck back by levying a $2.5bn tax fine on the powerful Dogan media conglomerate that has been a fierce critic and enemy of the prime minister. Both acts injure Turkey.s image as a modern democracy.

Erdogan has been Turkey.s best, most popular prime minister. He has enacted important political, social, legal and economic reforms, and has drawn Turks closer to Europe.s laws and values. He stabilised Turkey.s formerly wild finances and brought a spirit of real democracy to Turkey. The EU keeps warning Turkey.s generals to keep out of politics.

Europe clearly wants an obedient Turkey to protect its eastern flank, not an equal partner. After 50 years of trying, Turkey still can.t get into the EU.

Review of "The Mysterious Collapse of World Trade Center 7," a New Book by David Ray Griffin

by Tod Fletcher

In THE MYSTERIOUS COLLAPSE OF WORLD TRADE CENTER 7: WHY THE FINAL OFFICIAL REPORT ABOUT 9/11 IS UNSCIENTIFIC AND FALSE, David Ray Griffin provides an overwhelmingly convincing case that the latest official US government account of the events at .Ground Zero. on September 11, 2001, is false. He examines in detail the whole series of publications by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) purporting to explain the highly .mysterious. collapse of World Trade Center 7, a 47-story steel-framed skyscraper across the street from the North Tower, which was not struck by a plane and yet collapsed into its footprint, at nearly free-fall speed, shortly after 5 PM that day.

That the sudden collapse of Building 7 constitutes a .mystery. is an admission of the major media and NIST itself, which for years said it was having a hard time understanding what had occurred. After a long series of preliminary attempts, admitting that a full explanation had not been achieved, NIST issued its .Final Report. in November 2008, claiming to present a scientifically-verified and complete account of the causes of the building.s collapse. As critics of the ever-changing official explanations point out, however, the .mystery. is the result of failure by government and media to consider the most likely explanation, one that accords with a vast amount of physical and testimonial evidence, which is that the building was brought down by controlled demolition.

As Griffin brilliantly demonstrates throughout this powerful indictment, NIST, a purportedly scientific agency of the federal government, has produced an official .explanation. that fails to follow basic scientific principles and meet established scientific standards. The publication of its .Final Report. therefore amounts to nothing less than scientific fraud, which when committed by a federal science agency is a criminal act. Despite its claims to have produced a final, definitive, scientific report on WTC 7.s collapse, NIST in fact has ignored, suppressed, or distorted all the evidence for controlled demolition, while fabricating fake .evidence. to support its own .explanation..

In the Introduction, Griffin lays out the background to NIST.s .Final Report," surveying the agency.s earlier .interim. reports and the evolution of its attempts to explain the .mystery.. In its .Final Report," NIST abandoned its earlier claim that structural damage from debris from the North Tower was a significant cause of Building 7.s collapse, asserting that the principal cause was very hot and long-lasting fires of office materials in the building set ablaze by the falling debris.

Part I of the book, .NIST.s Unscientific Rejection of the Most Likely Theory,. examines in six chapters the methods used by NIST to avoid considering controlled demolition as a possible explanation of the building.s collapse. Controlled demolition is the most likely hypothesis because never before 9/11 had a steel-framed skyscraper collapsed due to fires. All previous instances of sudden, rapid collapse of such buildings into their footprints had been the result of intentional, controlled demolition using explosives. As Griffin demonstrates in Part 1, a very large amount of physical and testimonial evidence supporting the .most likely hypothesis. exists, and it was all ignored, dismissed, or distorted by the authors of the .Final Report..

In Chapter 1, .NIST as a Political, Not a Scientific, Agency,. Griffin shows that NIST, as an agency of the Commerce Department, was under tight political control by the Bush administration. He quotes from a whistleblower from the agency who described in detail how political appointees in the .front office. vetted every scientific statement issued by NIST, and how the statements were then vetted by .the HQ staff of the Department of Commerce,. the National Security Agency and the Office of Management and Budget.

In Chapter 2, .Some Principles of Scientific Method,. Griffin begins by considering what constitutes scientific fraud, and then distinguishes between scientific fraud in the strict sense and in a broader sense. Scientific fraud in the strict sense has been committed by NIST if it can be shown that i) the agency has fabricated evidence to support its claims; ii) that it has falsified evidence; or iii) that it has ignored relevant evidence. Scientific fraud in the broader sense has been committed by NIST if it can be shown that it violated further scientific principles, including these: extra-scientific considerations should not be allowed to determine conclusions; an investigation should begin with the most-likely hypothesis; straw-man arguments should be avoided; unprecedented causes should not, without good reasons, be posited to explain familiar occurrences; and scientists should not make claims implying that laws of nature have been violated.

In Chapter 3, .NIST.s Refusal to Begin with the Most Likely Hypothesis,. Griffin establishes that the most likely hypothesis to consider in attempting to explain the collapse of WTC 7 must be that it was brought down by controlled demolition using explosives, for two reasons. First, no steel-framed skyscraper prior to 9/11 had ever collapsed for any reason other than demolition; on 9/11, however, and in one small area, three such buildings came down, purportedly due to fires, and in the case of the Twin Towers, additional damage caused by airliner impacts. (In his earlier book, DEBUNKING 9/11 DEBUNKING, Griffin has already demonstrated that NIST.s .explanation. for the disintegration and fall of the towers does not stand up to rational scrutiny.) Second, the collapse of WTC 7 .exemplified many of the signature features of the type of controlled demolition known as implosion.: the collapse started from the bottom and was sudden and total, the building came straight down and fell at close to free-fall speed, its concrete was pulverized to dust, and the debris pile was relatively small (p. 27). When fires result in .high-order damage,. evidenced by shattered structures, pulverized debris, and significant lateral ejections of material, guidelines established by the National Fire Protection Association in its .Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations. mandate official agencies to investigate the possibility of explosives, but NIST never undertook any such investigation.

In Chapter 4, .NIST.s Ignoring of Physical Evidence for Explosives,. Griffin lays out the physical evidence suggesting that the building was brought down by controlled demolition: video evidence of .squibs. of smoke and pulverized material blown laterally out of the building as it collapsed; a vertical row of blown-out windows from the 29th to the 37th floors, unexplainable by NIST.s account; molten metal in the debris under the building; an array of scientific reports of extremely high temperatures, far above the temperatures which could be reached by fires burning in office materials, as proposed by NIST; thinning and sulfidation of steel recovered from the building; extreme heat and unusual emissions at the collapse site for months afterwards; and red/gray chips found in dust from the building.s collapse, which on analysis by independent researchers Steven Jones, Kevin Ryan, Niels Harrit, and others, proved to be nanothermitic, derived from a very advanced type of explosive. NIST in its .Final Report. failed to take any of this evidence into account, simply pretending it did not exist.

In Chapter 5, .NIST.s Ignoring of Testimonial Evidence for Explosives,. Griffin first reviews NIST.s prior ignoring of testimonial evidence for explosions in the Twin Towers before their disintegration. He then presents in detail a wide array of testimonial evidence supporting the most-likely hypothesis, implosion. These testimonies came from credible witnesses, including a New York Daily News reporter and a New York Police Department officer located outside the building before it came down, who heard explosions inside it; detailed accounts from two high-level NYC employees, Barry Jennings and Michael Hess, of their experiences inside the building that morning, where they heard and felt large explosions before the Twin Towers had collapsed; testimonies, again from highly credible witnesses, to foreknowledge of the building.s collapse; premature television reports that the building had come down, before it had actually collapsed; and even witnesses to Fire Department of New York personnel announcing that the building was going to be .brought down.. Griffin shows that NIST either ignored this evidence or went to great lengths to distort it by constructing an elaborate false chronology of the testimonial evidence which it could not simply ignore.

In Chapter 6, .NIST.s Straw-Man Arguments against Explosives,. Griffin analyzes the reasons presented by NIST for its refusal to investigate the possibility that explosives were responsible for WTC 7.s destruction. He shows that they employed .straw-man. arguments based on highly-implausible scenarios for the types and quantities of explosives used and then argued that these scenarios are . implausible! The principal scenario NIST focused on, needless to say, was not one that has been proposed by any actual independent researchers as a plausible one. Griffin then shows that high-level personnel at NIST, including four directors from 2001 to 2008 as well as key advisors to the agency, had extensive professional involvement with and expertise in the technology of nanothermitic materials, the very type of explosive proposed by independent researchers as most likely to have been used on 9/11. Indeed, as Griffin details, NIST is engaged in partnerships with academic and federal government research units around the country to develop nanothermitic technologies.

In Part II, .NIST.s Unscientific Arguments for Its Own Theory,. Griffin dissects the arguments made by the agency in putting its own .explanation. forward. He shows in detail the failure of the authors of the .Final Report. to adhere to standard scientific principles, including their failure to base their analysis on empirical facts and physical tests (preferring .black box. computer models in which any parameter can be tweaked until the desired result is obtained), their distorting of data or fabrication of .data,. and their failure to eliminate glaring internal contradictions within their arguments.

In Chapter 7, .NIST.s Theory of an Unprecedented Collapse: an Overview,. Griffin provides an overview of the complex theory promulgated by NIST. He first explores NIST.s claim that the collapse of the building was unprecedented. NIST makes this claim implicitly in advancing its own candidate for the principal causal mechanism, thermal expansion of steel from office-materials fires. Because there is no known prior case in which thermal expansion of steel caused a steel-framed skyscraper to collapse, but there are many cases of implosion of such buildings, NIST.s proposal raises the question whether it violated the scientific principle to avoid invoking unprecedented causes to explain familiar occurrences. Then Griffin surveys the major features of the NIST .explanation. to orient the reader for the detailed discussion in following chapters.

In Chapter 8, .The Initiation and Spread of Fires: NIST.s Unempirical Account,. Griffin examines closely NIST.s claim that the fires in WTC 7 started as a result of the rain of debris which hit the building when the North Tower disintegrated and fell. He shows that NIST.s claims that fires in the building started at this time (10:28 AM) are unsubstantiated, and that the fires therefore could not have burned for as long as NIST contended they did. He points out that NIST itself admitted that most of the fires in the building may have started quite a bit later in the day, in the middle and late afternoon, and thus have burned for less than three hours and even as little as 40 minutes.

In Chapter 9, .Fire and Steel Temperatures: Implausible Claims Based on Distorted Data,. Griffin shows that NIST.s claims regarding the temperatures reached by the fires themselves and the steel structure of the building exposed to those fires are both wildly exaggerated. This extreme overestimation was made possible by the use of computer models, which were manipulated by NIST .investigators. to achieve the desired result (the agency had used the same method in its earlier reports on the destruction of the Twin Towers). There is in fact no evidence to support the fire temperatures or the fire durations claimed by NIST. In a similar manner, NIST .simulated. the temperatures reached by the steel structure of the building, and claimed wildly implausible temperatures for which there is no actual evidence, based on the assumption (contrary to fact) that steel has no thermal conductivity!

In Chapter 10, .From Thermal Expansion to Global Collapse: Fabrications and Contradictions,. Griffin shreds the last pillar of NIST.s account: its claim that thermal expansion of steel floor beams and girders caused .global collapse.. He shows that this claim is based on highly implausible assumptions, outright fabrications, denial of the existence of structural elements that did in fact exist, and fabrication of a .differential thermal expansion. result from its computer simulations by modeling heating of the steel beams but not of the floor slabs! Griffin delivers the coup de grace by showing that NIST was forced to admit that WTC 7 did indeed fall at free-fall speed for more than two seconds during its collapse, which would only be possible if all resistance to the fall had been eliminated by removal of the lower portion of the building by explosives. This demonstrates that NIST has resorted to a miraculous .explanation. of the collapse of Building 7, in which no explosives were used and yet free-fall still occurred, and has thus violated the scientific principles of non-contradiction and impermissibility of claims implying that laws of nature have been violated.

In the .Conclusion,. Griffin summarizes the many ways in which standard principles of scientific investigation were violated by NIST in its .Final Report.. On this basis, he concludes that the Report is false, and then discusses the implications of this fact. The only possible conclusion is that WTC 7 was demolished .by domestic terrorists with the ability to plant explosives in it and then to orchestrate a cover-up. (p. 255). If this is true of Building 7, it must be true as well of the Twin Towers. When these conclusions are drawn, it is clear that the entire basis and pretext for the ongoing war in Afghanistan (and now Pakistan) is false. Muslims did not bring down these buildings. The events of 9/11 were quite simply the largest, most heinous false-flag operation of all time.

THE MYSTERIOUS COLLAPSE OF WORLD TRADE CENTER 7 by David Ray Griffin is an epoch-making book, of tremendous importance for our future. Griffin has shone a spotlight on the Achilles. heel of the US government.s account of 9/11. NIST.s failure to defend the official story of the collapse of WTC 7 lays bare the weak spot that will make it possible for us to bring this monster down and stop the wars of aggression abroad and the growing police-state at home. You owe it to your country and the world to read this book.

DEMOCRACY is too weak - one day election

Democracy?s edges---there are detrimental effects from the flawed side of it as much as there are good things in its flip side. The negative side of democracy?s edges cut down the people to sizes and then reduces to ember. Ian Shapiro and Casiano Hacker-Cordon from Yale University (USA) in their joint venture to dig into this farcical development have opined that democracy is a ?flawed hegemon which is all too easily held hostage by powerful interests; it often fails to protect the vulnerable or otherwise to advance social justice; and it does not cope well with a number of the political landscape?.
While introspecting and throwing thoughts on these findings of the two Yale University scholars you see Manipur, the laboratory of world?s largest democracy, India at the back of your mind. We have been reduced to just a One-Day democracy. The state of Manipur has been experiencing this One-Day democracy for quite sometime now.
The voice of the people, an engine of democracy, is relevant for less than 12 hours---you decide the fate of your leaders and representatives between dawn and dusk of an election day. And the following five years become ?Powercracy?---the public pulse and sentiment find no accommodation in the system in this long five-year period, duration enough to annihilate anything. Practicality constraints are obviously the reason for the authorities? inability to conduct polls that frequent but still then, the ethos of democracy should not be written off. The public voice is to be regarded with promptness and concern. Harboring the ?King Nero functioning? definitely un-soothes the already tormented sentiments of the hoi-polloi.
When American thinker Noam Chomsky calls the so termed champion of democracy, the United States of America as ?Failed states?, what may be the restraints for the people here to adorn the American scholar?s opinion towards our ?wardens??
The world?s only Super Power has everything in its kitty to be able to comfort its citizens and the Americans in turn, has every reason to feel safe and snooty. However, the human sufferings incurred in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere triggered by the ?United States? dominating foreign policy has prompted Noam Chomsky, arguably the world?s greatest living thinker to christen his own nation as ?Failed States?. Lessening human suffering is promoting democracy, the scholar noted.
We know there is no more serious institutional competitor of democracy after the fall of communism. Given the situation, in the event of the failure of democracy, the nearest uncharted system at hand perhaps, is Anarchism (Monarchy, Fascism, Capitalism of varied forms etc.etc. have been tested).
Anarchism is a political philosophy which says that any government, authority or power is ?oppressive and unjust, that the abolishing of government will produce the greatest individual and collective freedom and prosperity and that is the governmental authority that imposes unfair rules on people, steals their money, and keeps them in slavery?. German thinker Max Stirner, Russian-born American writer Emma Goldman and many other philosophers both past and contemporary in Italy, Spain, Germany, France are prominent promoters of Anarchism. Pierre-Joseph Proudhon of France advocated in favour of Anarchism to certain extent. Peter Kropotkin of Russia campaigned for a communist anarchism. Jean-Jacques Rousseau?s idea that says, ?People are naturally virtuous but corrupted by society?, has been giving inspirations to many anarchists throughout the ages world wide.
However, at the moment, there is no dispute to the maxim, ?Democracy is so far the best system?.
But the argument is over the quality of democracy. Noted American political scientist Robert A. Dahl in one of his comments put it that in democratic countries where democratic institutions and practices have been well established, a fairly strong democratic culture exists. Dahl?s line can probably be considered as ?barometer? to check the quality of democracy. But first, an urgency to do away the One-Day democracy is the need of the moment and then let us ask---Majority of What and Majority for Whom but try to avoid the chicken-and-egg riddle that often lurks in any debating issue.

Money, murder and national sovereignty

Taking down a nation: Money, murder and national sovereignty

If you wanted to destroy the infrastructure that holds our constitutional republic in place, how would you go about that? As with a controlled demolition you would need to dislodge the foundation from the bedrock where it is anchored and weaken the framework that holds the structure together. In practice, you would demolish the laws that support the legal and financial structure. Our constitutional republic would then collapse into its own footprint, meeting no resistance.

Billionaire George Soros claimed the world financial system has disintegrated, adding that there is yet no prospect of a near-term resolution to the crisis. [1] If this were true, it would be a blessing. It is more likely a pretext for consolidating world financial control through an illegitimate global oligarchy that supersedes national sovereignty. Media propagandists are spinning the "new" idea of one world currency issued by a global monetary authority. Herding the fearful into a blind alley with soothing promises of international cooperation, the same criminals who engineered global financial destruction are promoting the International Monetary Fund as the savior of choice to issue one world currency. The IMF.s synthetic currency, Special Drawing Rights (SDR), is determined by the fluctuating value of fiat currencies generated by four privately owned central banks. SDR are fabricated debt owed to a private banking cartel.

Would a universal token of debt, fabricated by the same private banking cartel that engineered our staggering debt, be a remedy for national insolvency? Would global indebtedness to this cartel restore the productive economy? Whose social priorities would be financed by a global banking oligarchy? Would this oligarchy continue the practice of withholding credit from cities and states, farmers, small businesses, homeowners and entrepreneurs while fabricating credit for weapons, war, gambling and fraud? Would consolidating a global debt monopoly counteract or amplify the risk of global systemic collapse? Transnational institutions that infect every aspect of the global financial system have just demonstrated the dangers of being too interconnected to quarantine and too well-connected to prosecute.

Why would a sovereign people who are fully capable of issuing their own money and credit surrender that authority to a supranational oligarchy that issues fiat debt? Abolishing national currencies essentially dissolves national sovereignty.

While media ventriloquists would have us believe rampant and random greed provoked a spontaneous "global financial crisis," the historical record indicates deliberate and carefully planned destruction of national sovereignty, worldwide. The plans for consolidating private control of global wealth have been in motion for over a century, accelerating exponentially with the frenzy of neoliberal deregulation that enabled financial fraud to metastasize globally. Carroll Quigley, a Georgetown University historian and Bill Clinton.s mentor, was privy to documents and meetings held by the international powers of financial capitalism. He was not speculating on their motives but rather reporting as a trusted insider, an eyewitness who described their intent:

Following World War I . . ."the powers of financial capitalism had another far reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world.s central banks, which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank, in the hands of men like Montagu Norman of the Bank of England, Benjamin Strong of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Charles Rist of the Bank of France, and Hjalmar Schacht of the Reichsbank, sought to dominate its government by its ability to control treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence co-operative politicians by subsequent rewards in the business world." --Carroll Quigley, 1966 [2]

Founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski, the Trilateral Commission.s stated goal is to foster a "New International Economic Order" that would supplant the historical economic order. Paul Volcker -- past Federal Reserve chairman, Rockefeller trust fund administrator and chairman of Obama.s Economic Recovery Advisory Board -- is the North American chairman. Speaking to that group in 1991 David Rockefeller stated:

"We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto determination practiced in past centuries." --David Rockefeller, 1991 [3]

A plan for the world that "marches" humanity towards a world government could only have been developed in the shadows, although constitutional scholars would hardly share Rockefeller.s gratitude to the Washington Post, New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications for half a century of media complicity with treason. A "supranational sovereignty" of self-appointed feudal lords violates the right of sovereign nations to auto determination, the right of nation states to protect their financial sovereignty from "world bankers" and the right of sovereign individuals to form governments that derive their powers from the consent of the governed. In this royal cabal.s worldview, these rights do not exist. The earth is for selfish plundering and human beings are merely expendable serfs to be exploited. National currencies, government regulations, international law, civil liberties, environmental and worker protections are seen as obstacles to self-gratification that must be demolished. Their vision of utopia is a global dictatorship of world bankers and self-appointed elites.

Delusional as such subversive ambitions may sound, the World Trade Organization has already usurped illegitimate authority to supersede the regulations of sovereign nations, overriding international human rights law and the rights of regional governments to protect their populations. The North American Union, masterminded by Richard Gardner, promoted by Robert Pastor and engineered by this cabal will dissolve the borders between the US, Canada and Mexico and superimpose a legislative body that supersedes the authority of Congress with a continental NAFTA parliament of free trade pirates, unrestrained by regulations that protect the public and the earth. [4] It should come as no surprise that media directors complicit with treason have failed to alert the public to this covert destruction of national sovereignty.

The Bank for International Settlements is consolidating world financial control by herding nation states into five Regional Currency Areas that will ultimately be merged into one. [5] The European Union, with a supranational parliament and constitution that were forced on European citizens despite their veto, overrides the sovereignty of individual European nation states.

Fred Bergsten, a US Treasury official and founding member of the Trilateral Commission and subversive Peterson Institute, accurately conveyed the ramifications of abandoning national currencies:

"The adoption of a common currency is by far the boldest chapter of European integration. Money traditionally has been an integral element of national sovereignty . . . and the decision by Germany and France to give up their mark and franc . . . represents the most dramatic voluntary surrender of sovereignty in recorded history. The European Central Bank that will manage the euro is a truly supranational institution." --C. Fred Bergsten, 1999 [6]

Bergsten rightly acknowledges that, "money is an integral element of national sovereignty." Therefore, the private ownership of one global currency strips all countries of their national sovereignty in one broad stroke and what better way to shorten the process than to engineer the .disintegration of the world financial system,. with a global derivatives Ponzi scheme.

Bergsten.s euphoria over European loss of national sovereignty is an expression of victory, the triumph of subversion. European nation states did not voluntarily surrender their national sovereignty. They were forced to surrender, just as Americans are being stripped of their national sovereignty, piece by piece.

In 1974, international banker, Trilateralist and CFR member, Richard N. Gardner outlined a comprehensive strategy for the new world order in an influential article in Foreign Affairs, entitled "The Hard Road to World Order." He stated:

"In short, the .house of world order. would have to be built from the bottom up rather than from the top down. It will look like a great confusion, but an end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece, will accomplish much more than the old-fashioned frontal assault." [7]

Gardner.s strategy for demolishing national sovereignty lays out a sweeping program for successfully setting up world government: strengthening the International Monetary Fund with leverage to wreck the economies of entire countries, as it did to Argentina in 2001; rewriting the ground rules for international trade through GATT (forerunner of the WTO), that "will subject countries to an unprecedented degree of international surveillance over, up to now, sacrosanct .domestic. policies;" creating transnational trade regimes as pretexts for world control, such as the EU, NAFTA and a Free Trade Area of the Americas that would create a massive outflux of jobs and factories from the US and lead, over time, to a complete subordination of American government to a continental corporate authority; giving the United Nations ultimate jurisdiction over the oceans, atmosphere, electromagnetic spectrum, and outer space; disarming all nations to such an extent that, eventually, "no state would have the military power to challenge the progressively strengthened UN Peace Force" -- under whose authority the first Gulf War, and its 12-year aftermath of bombing raids and crippling sanctions, was carried out. From Somalia to the Balkans to Sierra Leone to Afghanistan, United Nations "peacekeepers" have become nearly ubiquitous enforcers of world order out of the barrel of a gun.

Steve Bonta.s analysis of Gardner.s strategy concludes:

"If the insiders could have accomplished overtly and instantly what they are now piecing together through stealth and patient gradualism, they surely would have done so. They.ve had to proceed slowly and cautiously on their .Hard Road to World Order,. and their slowness and caution shows that they fear awakening the American people if they try to do too much too fast." [8]

Evidently, the "old-fashioned frontal assault" became more desirable than "an end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece." The explosion that dislodged the US Constitution from its bedrock was delivered with a Shock and Awe attack on Americans on September 11, 2001. The plan for totalitarian world order that was not "subject to the bright lights of publicity for forty years," was rapidly completed in the aftermath of 9/11 when the constitutional relationship between US citizens and their government was radically altered, without their consent.

The legal framework protecting citizens from government abuse was detonated, piece by piece, in a demolition wave that collapsed the US constitutional infrastructure: Office of Legal Counsel justifications for kidnapping, torture, unlawful detention, military tribunals and secret prisons, overturning habeas corpus; militarizing domestic control in violation of Posse Comitatus; White House assumption of dictatorial powers with executive orders and presidential signing statements; Patriot Act destruction of civil liberties; domestic surveillance and personal data mining; control of media and journalism; Internet censorship; nationwide detention camps; unconstitutional pretexts for declaring martial law; domestic mercenary hit squads and intelligence gathering outsourced to private "security" companies; union-busting, ICE raids and deportation executed by the Homeland Security Gestapo.

The demolition wave that took down the global financial system and crashed the US economy was ignited with well placed financial explosives by top officials within the Federal Reserve, Treasury, White House, Congress and key financial institutions. Laws were dismantled and financial derivatives were deregulated to clear a path for the subprime demolition wave. On September 11, 2001, an estimated $240 billion dollars was covertly added to the M2/M3 money supply with the .settlement. of off-balance sheet, illegal bonds created in 1991 by George H.W. Bush and Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan. The banking institutions that funded the subprime operation opened nationwide mortgage retail outlets to bankroll predatory loans that were fanned into speculative equities, hedge funds, and derivative markets -- HSBC, UBS, Credit Suisse First Boston, Triad Guaranty Trust Insurance Corp, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, Bank of America, Chase Manhattan, Carlyle Group and Goldman Sachs. [9]

In the four months after 9/11, the total money supply increased by $650 billion, the single greatest burst of monetary increase in modern times. After pumping $3 trillion in excess liquidity into the economy, a 32 percent expansion of the money supply since 1994, the financial managers of this operation created comparable monetary .demand. for this capital with Ten-Year Treasury Notes in a highly coordinated strategy to channel this excess liquidity into the high risk subprime market. A broad array of tactics was used to dismantle financial regulations and block actions that would have prevented systemic collapse, including a White House lawsuit to prevent state regulators from enforcing their predatory lending laws. [10]

Prior to 9/11, the individuals and institutions that collapsed the Soviet economy and robbed the treasury were under investigation by multiple federal agencies for evidence of financial fraud -- potentially related to 280,000 metric tons of stolen gold. These investigations were permanently aborted by the complete destruction of all case evidence -- stored in the 9/11 targets: World Trade Centers 1 and 2 were pulverized within 10 seconds each; WTC 7 was collapsed within 7 seconds; WTC 6 housing $240 billion in illegal bond certificates was exploded and the Office of Naval Intelligence at the Pentagon was demolished -- thereby destroying all evidence against the same individuals who subsequently funded and executed the controlled demolition of the United States. [11]

These are the architects of "regime change" -- the psychopathic assertion that criminals are free to overthrow governments, murder civilians and steal the assets of sovereign nations -- "because we can," as Richard Cheney declared. In a sovereign nation governed by the rule of law, these subversives would have good reason to fear prosecution for treason and war crimes. Hence, the demolition of the US Constitution and re-engineering of law to provide themselves with immunity and crush political dissent.

Ethical minds do not conceive covert schemes to "march" humanity toward world dictatorship, nor plot the destruction of national sovereignty to rule the world. Human beings with a functioning conscience do not orchestrate mass murder, stage terrorist attacks, bankrupt economies and overthrow governments. These crimes against humanity are manifestations of criminal insanity. Delusions of grandeur, subversion, compulsive lying, larceny, kidnapping, torture and genocide indicate clinical symptoms of psychopathy and severe antisocial character disorders. [12]

The greatest danger of any centrally controlled system is the ease with which it can be hijacked by tyrants. That alone, is good reason to decentralize the global financial system, diversify national currencies and establish public control of money and credit within every nation state. International commitment to strengthening constitutional protection of civil liberties in every country must begin with repealing totalitarian "anti-terrorism" laws and dismantling the architecture of illegitimate "supranational sovereignty."

Psychopaths are devoid of conscience, incapable of compassion, accountability or remorse, lie routinely, manipulate and deceive, operate in secrecy, control and suppress information. They view themselves with grandiose self-importance and are flagrantly contemptuous of the law. Their craving for dominance over others propels them into the centers of power where they are overrepresented in the top ranks of corporations, politics, law enforcement, law firms and the media.
